I came back to read recent posts and was very amused to see Mr. John Knox on here. What a hilarious surprise... aren't u the one who was caught at Swifts screwing the pig? This entire website is a waste of time. The only good out of this would be for us to get a good laugh out of it. I'm sure they have plenty of TP in the jail! If you really want to waste money and time sending us toilet paper, then go for it! I think that most people in Marshalltown would agree with me.

I am a member of law enforcement in Marshalltown. Suzanne Butts has not only been convicted of theft, but various assaults as well. She fights with police officers when apprehended and actually caused one of our officers to have a heart attack as he was trying to restrain her. She has been arrested for theft at least 6 times.
This website is irresponsible in encouraging individuals to send toilet paper to the courthouse. You should be ashamed of yourself. The bottom line is that a crime occurred, and we have to do our jobs and make an arrest.

If the person who started this "Send a roll of asswipe to Iowa" program really cares about this disgusting parasite & wants to help, then why don't they fly their happy ass to Iowa when she gets out of the clink or pay her fine & take her back home with them & let her sponge of of them & steal asswipe from THEIR courthouse. I'm sure once this piece of trash moved in with them, ate all their food & stole everything from them that wasn't nailed down, they would see just how big of a jackass they were for even thinking of something so retarded. The upswing is that Marshalltown gets rid of a worthless parasite with total disregard for the law & the jackass that started this dumbass program gets what they deserve. The downside is that the state where she ends up will probably have to foot the bill for the retarded thieving slob or lock her up in one of their jails. I guess I shouldn't say she's totaly worthless...We can always use her as a bad example to our children & other law abiding citizens.

OK. Stealing is wrong, especially from such a public place as the courthouse. It does make American security look bad. Publishing this is our right to free press, but, it does humiliate a woman who obviously has mental problems. Wasting toilet paper, the precious commodity stolen in the first place, is a waste of postal workers time, courthouse time, and we don't know where the rolls will "end" up. Wasting paper/trees?

Police officers do serious work but they have a sense of humor about their work too. I heard an interview on KUUL FM in Davenport and the police chief had a great sense of humor about the incident. How could you not laugh at this? I was laughing my butt off during the interview. She's an idiot and anyone who supports her is an idiot too.

What are you thinking lady? I don't feel bad for this person because she is poor white trash and has to steal toilet paper. She is obviously nothing but a criminal. I don't care if what you're stealing is just toilet paper, it's still theft, plain and simple. I'd rather send a bunch of used toilet paper to you than send any trolls to this town's courthouse.

As a European one cannot from time to time wounder what's wrong in the heads of the American people. In our eyes something is badly out of order with the way you do things "over there".
You americans are never late to tell the rest of the world how to be civilized. At the same time you kill criminals and send people to prison for stealling toiletpaper. I can understand that the creator of this page is disturbed that a person was humiliated on the news. That should be her focus, not sending in toilet paper. The page writer is wanting to capitalize on THE VERY thing that the news joked of....the name Butts. You can't have it both ways.
The subject is a common theif and should be given no mercy, as far as I'm concerned. She is Food Stamp Healthy, obviously. As for non-food items she COULD be selling her smelly favors instead of giving them to any interested parties...i.e. self support. But I'm sure her high moral character prohibits her from taking money for something she happily gives away. Makes you wonder who is paying for her cigaretts & alcohol.

The welfare recepient who stole that toilet paper is world news.
From what I understand, most people in Marshalltown do not understand the world outside of their village, with that in mind the place must be some redneck wonderland. As a current Loss prevention officer for multiple retailers in Iowa , I have seen some bad situations, Adults having thier children steal for them ! knowing they will get a lesser charge if caught, and get slapped on the hands for it, but what message does this send? True she is caught stealing from a goverment funded establishment.
Jail will not cure the ailment of poverty and the requirement to keep your BUTT clean! In any light she is stealing to stay alive, to survive, in MarshallTown jobs are not a dime a dozen even for a basic burger slinging position. Please offer her help in effect of employment to curb the need to have sticky fingers. In light once help is rendered let nature take course and see . Im 37 and know what it is like NOT to have that DOLLAR and buy what your family needs, some are WAY to coinceded as myself to ask for help, we get embarrased. At least she didn't cry for her "MOMMY" she is taking it like adult, not like a socialy drunk driving burger butterfly of the night.life.

I'm not originally from Marshalltown, but to say the below? That's like saying every single policeman is corrupt, or every single cook at McDonalds is spitting a load on your large fries before he hands them to you out the drive-thru.
We all take our chances. If you speed and you're caught, you pay a fine. (That is, if you live in a country with laws.) You play, you pay. Even if your last name is Butts. It only made such news because of her name. It's funny. What are the odds in someone with that name getting nailed ripping off toilet paper? People need to get over themselves. She only got caught for this because of the circumstances surrounding her - she was being watched already because of her cutesy, thieving ways. Had she stolen a magazine and a box of Altoids with the last name of Smith, this would've never even made print past the Marshalltown Police Reports in the local paper. She wouldn't get actual jail time for this in general - she would get it for her continuous, habitual behavior. BUTTS. Of course it's going to make world news, whether it's Marshalltown or Memphis. And, it's not just Marshalltown: After a curious Google of scouring out how many 3rd world countries and beyond are even more interested in Paris Hilton than finding a place they don't have to drink with the goats (Results 1-10 of about 92,800,000 for paris hilton. 0.04 seconds), I had to put down my can of pork n' beans, lift my spork to the sky and chant the Rocky Theme. Look how many media markets around the country are still broadcasting Jerry Springer. It's not Marshalltown keeping that tidbit of pink-flamingo-goodness-in-your-front-yard afloat. It's evident that the world as a whole has a hidden love for white trash humor at its finest...not just in Marshalltown. But that's just me~ and I prefer an ice crystal ladened Corona with a BUTTload of lime slices. And pork n' beans. |

Why is it that the supporters of this idiot keep pointing to the fact that she stole toilet paper and say that this is a travesty because she's poor and needed tp? Have any of you looked at the following facts:
1) This is NOT the first time she has stolen...she already received punishment for stealing money from a relative 2) She was only caught stealing tp...she could have stolen other items as well that she never got caught for, so don't automatically assume that she's innocent...also see fact#1 3) She stole from a courthouse! Why oh why would someone steal from a COURTHOUSE??? Sounds to me she was asking for someone to catch her 4) If she's that poor, she could easily learn to use washable rags, or even newspaper, which can be found in many places for free 5) Did she even think of asking first? I'm sorry...I wish that all people that pull stupid stunts like this would get punished this harshly...maybe people would think for a change!

A thief is a thief & aparently people have forgotten why we have laws. It dosn't matter if this woman (who already has had previous charges of theft filed) stole 1 roll of toilet paper or 1000 rolls, sealing is stealing & she was caught red handed. Where does it end? Why should ANYONE stick up for people who break the law? Once again people are making a mockery of the judicial system. If there is justice, the judge will make an example of this woman for all to see. If you relly want to help this woman don't send toilet paper to our courthouse. send support that will keep people like this from repeating their crimes. I'm sure that sending toilet paper to the courthouse will do nothing to influence leaneancy. Theves belong behind bars. We have a nice jail facility here in Marshall county to house burglars, druggies, drunk drivers & even toilet paper thieves. If this woman is let off what will she steal next? or who will she steal from? me? you? Remember a thief is a thief is a thief & thieves belong in the clink!

I know Suzanne, and she is a sweet person. I also understand her situation. I am poor too, and know what it is like to not even have that dollar to buy toilet paper from dollar tree or family dollar. In a week, people won't remember Suzanne's name, but they will always remember Marshalltown, Iowa as the town that punishes people for being challenged (mentally, physically, or financially) It really upsets me to think that the city I reside in would treat people this way. I understand that theft is wrong, and so does everyone else, but come on people TOILET PAPER??? It isn't like she robbed a bank! I think that the city of Marshalltown needs to wake up and understand that certain situations need to be dealt with differently than just BY THE BOOK. Instead of putting her in prison, HELP HER get on her feet so it never happens again. Instead of JAIL, give her a job. It is really sad when you are poor in Marshalltown. I don't have to steal toilet paper(thank god), but I certainly can understand when someone would have to. And isn't it sad when something like this makes NATIONAL attention. Now the WHOLE COUNTRY can make jokes about her.

What part of theft do you not understand? I live here in Iowa and this is not just about a few roles of toilet paper. I think before you try being this persons advocate that you get all of the facts straight first. How is this woman going to learn if she is not penalized. The 3 years of jail time is not solely for this incident, she is a repeat offender and and only been fined. Obviously that is not doing anything so it is time to toss her in jail. I cannot feel compassion for someone who would rather steal than attempt to work or if she is working, try to better herself to get a better paying job. Instead of stealing from family members ask for help.
